Lip Care - natural is best

There are people who for the most part get away without lip care and there are others who without lip care would have dry, cracked and dry lips. We humans are a diverse bunch with no two of us the same.  We hope however that this latest blog will give you some answers to why we think natural lip care is best.

Lips are very sensitive organs with very thin skin with a blood supply is very close to the surface, which is why lips appear pink or red.   Lips don't have the oily glands as with the rest of your skin and as a result lips can become become dehydrated and chapped more quickly than the rest of your skin would.

An effective lip moisturizer needs to do what sebum  (your skin's natural oil), does for the rest of your skin, that is - Keep moisture in and protect lips from drying out.

Choosing a lip balm is an important decision and worth a little effort to help keep your smile soft and supple. With what seems like an endless list of ingredients, products and promises, finding the right lip care is sometimes a huge trial and error experiment.  This experiment is further confused by the smell and taste factor with many people often forgetting the reason why they use lip balm and instead going for unnatural lip balms and moisturizers with flavours that are similarly not from nature and do not nourish your lips!

The first rule of Lip Balm is that you don't forget that lip balms are for your lips, they are not sweets or candy.  This doesn't mean that good lip balms cannot by wonderfully scented, but DO remember moisturizing lips is an important part of caring for your skin, so use a balm that works for your lips not just for your nose and taste buds.

Be careful and remember.....Anything you put on your lips inevitably ends up in your mouth so that is why we at Mil Balms only use natural ingredients on our Mil Béalghrá Range of Lip Balms.  Natural ingredients such as as organic jojoba oil ( which is very close to skin sebum), organic shea and cocoa butters, golden yellow beeswax and sweet almond oil all are safe to ingest, indeed shea and cocoa butter are both used in making chocolates, so you can't get more edible than that!!!!.  These ingredients are also top grade lip care ingredients.

Mil Balms have three lip balms currently, the nourishing Organic Shea and Cocoa Butter with its slight hint of chocolate, the soothing Lavender and Chamomile has the healing power of beeswax, the moisturizing of jojoba and the soothing or lavender and chamomile.  Our Béalghrá Simply Natural Lip Balm is as it says, simply healing beeswax, moisturizing sweet almond oil and vitamin E.

There are lots and lots of poor lip balms out there, but also there are some great ones.  We recommend you look for 100% natural, for if you treat your lips with care people will see it in your smile.
